About PRC: 

When students join CA, most of them are totally unfamiliar to CA. CA, that stands for Chartered Accountancy, is the only professional qualification with zero percent unemployment rate in Pakistan as well as throughout the world. In Pakistan, CA is managed by The Institute of Chartered Accountancy of Pakistan and first level of the mentioned qualification is PRC. Earlier, the students had to go for AFC to get entered into CA. But in 2021, AFC has been replaced with PRC. PRC Stands for Pre-Requisite Competencies. As it can be observed by name, PRC consists of the basic subjects (pre-requisites) of Chartered Accountancy that enable the students to get evaluated by ICAP for proper entrance in Chartered Accountancy.

Subjects in PRC:

Before 2021, AFC (earlier name of PRC) consisted of four subjects. But in 2021, when AFC was replaced with PRC, number of subjects were increased from four to five. 

Earlier subjects were as follows;

1. AFC-1 Functional English
2. AFC-2 Business Communication;
3. AFC-3 Quantitative Methods (QM)
4. AFC-4 Introduction to Information Technology

But after ICAP's 2021 education scheme, Functional English was removed from the list and two more subjects named as Introduction to Accounting and Principles of Economics were added in PRC. So, now the updated list of Pre-Requisite Competencies subjects consists of five subjects that are listed below;

1. PRC-1 Business Writing and Comprehension Skills
2. PRC-2 Quantitative Methods (QM)
3. PRC-3 Principles of Economics
4. PRC-4 Introduction to Accounting
5. PRC-5 Introduction to Business

From where to find and download the pdf books of PRC CA Subjects?

Students can download ICAP Study text (official updated books published by The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan as per 2021-2022 scheme) directly from here. Although the books can also be downloaded from the official website of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, but that requires students to log in first. But as newly entered CA students do not have credentials to log in to the website of ICAP, so they are unable to download the books from there.
